RS232 RS422/485 Converter

K485-ISOL

RS232 to RS485 isolated converter, line powered

K422-ISOL. RS232-RS422/485 converter. This converts full-duplex between RS232 and RS422. It can be used at the Master end of a 4-wire RS485 multidrop system. It is powered from either RTS or DTR, at least one of which must be permanently in the HIGH state.
K485-ISOL. RS232-RS485 (2 wire) converter. This converts half-duplex between RS232 and 2-wire RS485. It can be used as Masster or Slave. It uses RTS control; RTS must be HIGH when transmitting and LOW when receiving. It is powered from DTR which must be permanently in the HIGH state.
K232-ISOL. RS232-RS232 isolator. This simply isolates RS232. Only Rx and Tx signals are supported; no hardware handshakes. It is powered from either RTS or DTR, at least one of which must be permanently in the HIGH state.

RS422 (4-wire) and RS485 (2/4-wire) models available
Isolation 100% tested at >1000V AC
Plugs directly into IBM PC serial port
Very low cost
No separate power supply required in most applications
Baud rate independent 0-38 kbaud
Latest surface-mount technology
Controlled slew rate driver for low emissions
MIL-STD conformally coated circuitry
Surge-protected RS422/RS485 inputs

Do not confuse these isolated models with imitations which claim to be self-powered but which in fact require power to be supplied to both sides of the converter, or which require about 40mA - far too much for any PC interface to supply.
